Jerusalem Seminar – Family Purity & Medicine

Hundreds of rabonim & poskim gathered for Jeruslam based seminar on Family Purity & Medicine. Wonderful.

This past Wednesday, I had the great pleasure of participating in a full day seminar on the subject of Family Purity & Medicine.

It was organized by an organization called Torat Hamishpacha which is doing amazing work. Hundred of rabbis and particularly poskim — i.e. halachic experts who decide law in this specific area of law, gathered in Olam Beit Yisroel, Jerusalem auditorium.

The day revolved around prepared talks, averaging forty-five minutes each given by ten of the world’s leading people in the field of Family Purity and Medicine.

The focus of the talks revolved around cutting edge breakthroughs which  the Israeli medical world is creating to solve problems in areas of health and Jewish law.

For example, we heard many new techniques in resolving problems related to the dangers of early birth. Also, about post-partum depression and new clinically approved approaches to dealing with it; mood swings during menopause. Birth control methods which are safe and halachically permissible. Medical issues common in women during menopause and approaches to dealing with them. Medical issues relating to men in their fifties and onward. Extremely common problems following birth, their affect on halacha and married life and their solutions.

It was a tremendously fulfilling day. The contacts we made that day will certainly benefit us all in the future as we all have the same goals of serving the public.
