Last Thursday, a Chabad House in Lod asked me to speak with the neighborhood teenagers.
You don’t need to know a lot about demographics to know that those neighborhoods aren’t the highest socio-economic areas around. That said, the organizer, Rabbi Segal, has done an enormous job for the last two years. Three to four nights a week, he gets the kids together in synagogue, teaches them Torah, gives them fantastic food and refreshments, brings in speakers, and takes them on trips.
I didn’t think they needed, from me, any more studies or philosophy. I thought it was better to have a let-off-some-steam and time-tested build some confidence night with some good old karate breaks. Here are some shots.
